Create Good Feng Shui in Your Home

Feng Shui is the intentional and strategic way of spacing the entirety of your home with the purpose of creating a positive space, one with good energy. Although there is no direct evidence that the practice of Feng Shui has actual scientifically-based advantages, it never hurts to create a space that has the intention of inviting love and light through its doors. Here are 5 ways to create a better flow in your home!

Keep the entryways clear

Whether or not Feng Shui is of interest to you, having a clear entryway is the best way to keep your home feeling inviting and positive to others. Removing all the clutter that is so easily built up overtime, is a great way to have the initial feel of your home be a pleasant one. Also, making sure the area around the entrance is well-lit is another way to ensure high energy.

Doors

Doors have a large meaning in the art of Feng Shui, so it doesn’t hurt to pay closer attention to the details. Doorways symbolize the entryway for opportunities to flow into your life. Make sure your door is able to fully open, if not, then at least at a 90-degree angle. If your door cannot open all the way, there are blocked opportunities that could  be flowing in otherwise.

Bed positioning

The most crucial principle of Feng Shui has to do with where the bed is positioned within a room. The bed is said to represent you, and so the positioning of the bed is how you position yourself in the journey of life. Where your bed is positioned to the door is very important. It is recommended that your bed is diagonal to the door, or at a spot in which your door is visible, but not directly aligned with.

Use mirrors

Light illuminates and lifts a space. Properly place mirrors in your home by hanging one in the entryway, perpendicular to the front door. This brightens the place where you first welcome guests into your home and provides a practical place to check your look before leaving the house.

Hang a mirror opposite a beautiful view or a well organized area in your home to reflect back the lovely scene into the room. Avoid hanging mirrors in the kitchen and in your home office as this can be a distraction in what should be the most functional and productive areas of your home life.

Reduce clutter

The process of clearing space around you is essentially equivalent to clearing space in your life for fresh opportunities to arise. As you let go of items that no longer serve your life, you will be surprised with all the new that flows in. Overtime, the new aspects will become old once more, and so it goes. This process of new beginnings then turning stale is the nature of how life operates; it is never-ending.

Whether you are looking to dive deep into the ancient philosophy of Feng Shui or you want to just give your home a fresh revamp to keep it feeling open and airy, these tips can go a long way regardless!
